Thing 8

I played around in the sandbox and created my page. I have also enjoyed looking at the "Burning Questions" Sections. I really enjoy that the "Burning Questions" portion was not specifically defined. For the people who have created their wiki page, we have really come up with a variety of "Burning Questions." Some are probably unanswerable questions, and some are related to current events. I just enjoy the variety.

I've mentioned before that I already have created a wikispace for my class. Recently, I have made it more user-friendly. As I am inviting you to check it out, I'm actually wondering if you can even see it without a password. I didn't make it public due to my students using it and my apprehension of if they would handle using the wiki in a mature fashion. Let me know if you can't see it and I'll find out from Caroline how to change that.

  1. I was able to see your wikispace and navigate around it just fine! I really love the 'Big 20' section-how the kids can add in links to help with the standard. I can't wait to set up one for next year. I know I can do that now, but there's just something about a fresh new year that motivates me to do something new. Also, Caroline did a wikispace training at my school during our last planning day and she mentioned how a teacher used her wikispace as a place to keep information for substitute teachers. I REALLY like this idea because you can upload all the important info, class rosters/seating charts, etc. and submit sub plans from home.

  2. I like the Big 20 as a section, but have really gone back and forth about using it at all. Having a Big 20 every two weeks does help the students review the material they should already know. At the same time, we are making a push for the grades at our school to only represent what the standards include. Since the Big 20 reviews the previous year's work, then technically it shouldn't be included in the grade. Any thoughts?
