Thing 18

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around podcasting in my classroom. Don't get me wrong...I understand what a podcast is and what it can be used for. What I can't figure out is how to use it in my classroom. I tried to listen to some of the math podcasts, but some of them wouldn't work and others took too long to get started. I don't just want to use all of these "Things" in the delivery of my lessons or as a review of my lessons; I want to have the students create their own.

  1. I agree with you on the students creating their own. It's so much more interesting that way.

  2. And there have been many, many students who have created their own math podcasts or vodcasts rather. Just google mathcasts and you should find them. If not, let me know and I'll send you a link. Personally, I find that I'm such a visual person that I can't listen to podcasts. I much prefer vodcasts where I can watch and listen. I get a lot more out of those.

I'd love to your students creating pod/vodcasts one day! I think they would get a kick out of explaining the process of solving equations and sometimes it's easier for other students to hear the solution from a fellow student anyway.
